Aromatherapy essential oil for mosquito bites soothe the itch, prevent swelling and also repel mosquitoes and other parasites with their strong aroma.
The mosquito has been called the world’s most dangerous creature as it is known for transmitting deadly and lethal diseases like malaria, dengue and yellow fever.
There are no known vaccines against these diseases, which makes it even more important for us to use reliable mosquito repellents. Conventional methods of repelling mosquitoes include the use of chemical insecticides and pesticide formulations. These products can be quite harmful to humans, especially to babies.
Essential oils for mosquito repellents provide a safe and holistic approach to deter these pests and help keep our families safe from these insects.
Symptoms of Mosquito Bites In Humans
Mosquitoes bite humans in order to get a blood meal which helps them complete their life cycle. Both male and female mosquitoes insert their sharp mouthparts called antennae into the skin in order to suck the blood.
At the same time, to prevent the blood from coagulating, they also inject special enzymes into the skin through their saliva. These enzymes cause an allergic reaction in some sensitive humans and to counter this allergy, the body produces a histamine compound which causes swelling, itchiness and redness of the skin.
Over time, mosquito bites can turn itchier and may develop into pus filled oozing blisters that are harder to treat. Such blisters may even require antibiotics or steroid treatment to heal.
Conventional Treatment for Treating Mosquito Bite Symptoms
Conventional treatment for mosquito bites includes the use of antibiotic or steroidal (corticosteroid) creams.
It is very important to discontinue use of steroid-based creams after 2 days because they can get absorbed into the skin causing all kinds of problems.
This is the main reason why I recommend natural essential oils for mosquito bites treatment.
How Does Essential Oil For Mosquito Bites Work?
Essential oils for mosquitoes fall in two distinct categories: ones that repel mosquitoes and prevent their bites in the first place and a second category that soothes the bites and speeds up healing.
Essential oils for mosquito repellents have a strong fragrance which mosquitoes hate. Their aroma repels the mosquitoes so you need to diffuse these fragrant oils in your surroundings.
At the same time, the fragrant oils are completely safe for humans and you will not experience any unpleasant or adverse effects. You can also apply essential oils on your skin and that is completely safe as well.
However, it is important to dilute them using suitable carrier oils first. Another important point to note is that you need to re-apply essential oil for mosquito bites every 2 hours because their bug repellent effect tends to diminish as their aroma diminishes.
Treating Mosquito Bites
In case of mosquito bite symptoms like itchiness, swelling, pain and inflammation, essential oils soothe, heal and protect. Many oils have cicatrizing properties which means that they regenerate the skin cells and tissues to prevent blisters and scarring.
At the first indication of mosquito bite, you can apply the oils for mosquito bites to get quick relief from all the uncomfortable symptoms. Also, many oils are antibacterial, analgesic, antiseptic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. These properties prevent secondary infections from mosquito bites and prevent complications.
If you are planning to go camping or hiking, carry the best essential oils for mosquito bites to treat them quickly. You can also use cotton balls soaked in mosquito repellent oils and place them around your camping site to repel not only mosquitoes but also ticks, fleas, chiggers, gnats, flies and other pests that bug us in woody areas.
